Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of Americas most notorious criminals, including bank robber Slick Willie Sutton and Al Capone. One of those haunting jail cells is shown here. There was an art installation in this cell with a video of a prisoner talking about life at the prison making it appear as a ghost like image. Unfortunately, I don't have the artist's name who did the video. This is an original photograph by Rebecca Stringer Korpita.
