The beautiful golden glow of autumn in the Smoky Mountains sets the scene for Ely's Mill right on Roaring Fork near Gatlinburg TN. An old well-used truck rests in front of weathered buildings of this wonderful old Mill built in the late 1920s. No longer running, Ely's Mill is one of the few remaining pieces of Old Gatlinburg. Privately owned, it is still run by the original family who live on site. Notice at the back right of the old truck is what is known as a groundhog - part of a moonshine still. As it was told the Sheriff came and threw it out at Ely's Mill because he knew Mr. Ely was intensely opposed to alcohol so would use it for display only and it would have a good home and thus it does.
Rebecca Korpita is an artist living on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. Her artwork and illustrations reside in collections worldwide, appears on book covers, in magazines and are licensed on home goods and accessories. She is inspired by the coastal area in which she lives - the beach, the people, the lifestyle, the culture, old things and quirky things. Living near New Orleans, she loves the small colorful shotgun houses and captures them whenever she visits. Key West and all things tropical as well as women and their friendships and dogs and cats and their relationships with the people they own are some of her subjects.
