Description
The old general store in Gruene TX was originally opened by Henry Gruene to serve the needs of the sharecroppers who lived on his land and raised cotton.
When the town was destroyed by the effects of the boll wevil, it lay dormant until 1974, when it was restored and established by the State Historical Commission as a Historical District.
The Gruene General Store was re-opened in 1989 and carries an extension collection of old signs, Texas made products as well as a soda fountain.
This is a digitally altered original photograph by Rebecca Korpita.
