Manci's Antique Club, founded in 1924 as a gas station by Frank Manci on Main Street in Old Towne Daphne intriques with it's club sign, assorted antiques and colorful mural. It served as a restaurant and local watering hole for many years. This is a digital painting from an original photograph by Rebecca Korpita.
The restaurant and bar closed in 2014 but thankfully has reopened under new management. Manci's was featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" on The Food Network in 2008 and as well as it's food, it is famous for a wooden cutout in the ladies restroom of a naked, mustachioed man wearing only a fig leaf. Many an unsuspecting female has lifted the fig leaf, only to set off a buzzer that alerts everyone in the restaurant and bar.
Rebecca Korpita is an artist living on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. Her artwork and illustrations reside in collections worldwide, appears on book covers, in magazines and are licensed on home goods and accessories. She is inspired by the coastal area in which she lives - the beach, the people, the lifestyle, the culture, old things and quirky things. Living near New Orleans, she loves the small colorful shotgun houses and captures them whenever she visits. Key West and all things tropical as well as women and their friendships and dogs and cats and their relationships with the people they own are some of her subjects.
